J. Quentin Clemens AUA Victor A. Politano Award

J. Quentin Clemens, MD was recently awarded the American Urological Association’s Victor A. Politano Award for outstanding leadership and groundbreaking research in the fields of urinary incontinence and interstitial cystitis. The Victor A. Politano Award is presented to an individual (e.g. urologist, basic scientist, researcher, biomedical engineer, etc.) for outstanding achievements in the field of urinary incontinence and for enhancing the treatment of incontinent patients. This award is endowed by a trust fund established by Dr. & Mrs. Politano and the Applebaum Foundation.

Dr. Clemens has published over 200 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters. His research focuses on epidemiology and health services research related to non-malignant urologic diseases, health policy, and quality of care assessment in urology. He has had continuous funding from the NIH since 2001. Dr. Clemens is currently the Principal Investigator for two NIH-funded research networks – the University of Michigan LURN Research Site and the University of Michigan MAPP Research Network. He has served as the Chair of the MAPP Network since 2013.

Additionally, Dr. Clemens is the Principal Investigator of the CAIRIBU K12 Urological Epidemiology (KUroEpi) Institutional Research Career Development Program at the University of Michigan. He is a recognized leader within the CAIRIBU Community, providing dedicated mentorship to numerous K12 Scholars and facilitating their transitions to independent research conditions.
