ASM Microbe Approves Session Proposal by Silvia Grant, PhD

Silvia Grant, PhD’s session “Translating Urogenital Microbiome Science into Clinical Impact” was approved for the 2026 American Society for Microbiology (ASM) Microbe Conference. Dr. Grant, who is a member of the CAIRIBU Urobiome Research Interest Group (U-RIG), says this is a valuable opportunity to show the broader microbiology community that the urogenital microbiome/urobiome field is active, growing, and deserving of a strong platform to showcase their science. Nazema Siddiqui, MD, MHSc, also a member of the CAIRIBU U-RIG, will serve as the invited speaker.

ASM Microbe will take place June 4th-7th, 2026, in Washington, D.C. The conference is organized into three parallel, co-located meetings: the Health Meeting, focused on clinical and public-health microbiology; the Applied & Environmental Microbiology Meeting, centered on environmental, ecological, and biotechnology applications; and the Mechanism Discovery Meeting, focused on fundamental microbial biology and molecular mechanisms.

Dr. Grant encourages the CAIRIBU Community to submit abstracts before the deadline on January 21st. Early-career members should also apply for the ASM Peggy Cotter Travel Award Program, which provides up to $1,650 for outstanding trainees to attend ASM Microbe.

ASM Microbe 2026 is an excellent venue for members of the CAIRIBU U-RIG to come together and share their accomplishments with the broader microbiome field. Congratulations to Dr. Grant for her successful submission and to Dr. Siddiqui for the speaker invitation.
