The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Geroscience Interest Group and the National Institute on Aging will host the Fifth Geroscience Summit, with the theme Revisiting the Geroscience Hypothesis – Focus on Health.”  The meeting will bring together academic and industry researchers with clinicians and other groups invested in geroscience to examine recent progress and identify important knowledge gaps. This event will be held in-person December 2-3, 2026 on the NIH Main Campus at Building 35 (9000 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD.) A virtual option will be available.

Stated goals of the meeting are to:

  • Broadly assess the current state-of-the-science, and identify key gaps in knowledge and future research directions in geroscience
  • Accelerate gerotherapeutic development by fostering communication and collaboration among a multidisciplinary group of stakeholders
  • Highlight and focus on the concept of “healthspan,” and identify tools, technologies, and research strategies that allow for more effective measurement of health across the life course
  • Develop a roadmap for geroscience research that will help guide the field over the next 3-5 years
