CAIRIBU BPH Research Interest Group Knowledge Exchange

The BPH Research Interest Group connects investigators from a variety of fields who are engaged or interested in studying benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). This interdisciplinary initiative, involving basic and translational scientists as well as clinicians, will stimulate knowledge exchange, ideas, and research collaborations in BPH research.

During this session, Jim Brooks, MD (Stanford University) presented “Understanding heterogeneity in BPH,” and led a discussion on potential methods of phenotyping BPH with the goal of developing methods of classifying BPH. Classifying BPH could be used clinically to effectively match patients with appropriate therapies, predict natural history, and predict potential outcomes of treatments, including side-effects.
