The Science and Quality Fellow Program advances the fields of guidelines, quality, and data. It also helps residents and fellows develop insight into how the AUA develops and promotes the advancement of evidence-based science.
AUA Funding
Physician Scientist Residency Training Award
The Physician Scientist Residency Training Award (PSRTA) is a program relatively rare in the field of urology but common in other medical and surgical fields. This award supports a three-year research training program embedded within urology residency. The focus of this program is to prepare young surgeon scientists to become successful research leaders and make impactful discoveries for their patients.
Residency Research Awards
Residency Research Awards provide urology residents with research training to enable them to build momentum toward a career that includes research. Awards are $10,000 each, restricted to research supplies and other resources needed to conduct a 3-12 month research project during the resident’s research training period.
LEAD Program
The LEAD Program supports urology residents who conduct mentored research, engage in AUA research education opportunities and are championed through networking events as they develop successful research careers and better serve the urology patient community.
Holtgrewe Legislative Fellowship Program
The Holtgrewe Legislative Fellowship Program prepares and educates urology residents and fellows in the legislative aspect of health policy. Holtgrewe Fellows will complete a 4-6 week fellowship with a legislative office in Washington, D.C. and participate in major AUA advocacy initiatives.
Medical Student Fellowships
Established in 2010, the Medical Student Fellowship Program is a chance for outstanding medical students to pursue urology research by engaging in a research fellowship mentored by world-class urologic scientists. Fellows receive $4,000 stipends to support them during a mentored research experience.
