This Highlighted Topic encourages research that improves validity and reliability of findings by enhancing rigorous and transparent experimental design, methodology, analysis, and interpretation. High priority areas include, but are not limited to:

• Developing new tools and methods to help ensure experiments are optimally designed and research outputs are described with sufficient details and metadata
• Shifting scientific norms to better incentivize rigorous and reliable research practices
• Conducting outreach to encourage adoption of rigorous research practices via scientific meetings and educational programs

Participating Institutes and Centers include NIDDK*, NIA, NIAID, NINDS**, and NICHD.

*NIDDK may give special consideration to support meritorious applications in this topic area.

**NINDS may dedicate funds available to support applications in this Topic area depending upon the availability of funds, the number of meritorious applications, and competing ICO priorities.
