Indira Mysorekar, PhD was appointed vice dean for research, basic science and graduate studies at Penn State College of Medicine. She will also be the Dorothy Foehr Huck and J. Lloyd Huck Chair in Medicine and professor of medicine and cell and biological systems.

Her 18-year research career has focused on host- pathogen interactions in infectious disease, women’s health, the maternal-fetal interface, and the aging urogenital tract. In her new role as vice dean for research, basic science and graduate studies, Dr. Mysorekar will oversee the College’s basic science research and graduate education enterprise.

She will help strengthen interdisciplinary collaborations, advance research infrastructure, support graduate and postdoctoral training programs and build stronger connections across foundational science, clinical research and the translational continuum.

Dr. Mysorekar is an engaged member of the CAIRIBU Community, having served as the Principal Investigator of the former Washington University P20 Exploratory Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Benign Urology, funded 2018-2020. Currently she co-leads the CAIRIBU Uro-Aging Research Interest Group with Scott Bauer, MD, MS, which features monthly knowledge exchanges and strategic discussions.

Her leadership and continued engagement within the CAIRIBU Community underscore the far-reaching impact of urologic research and advancements across basic, translational, and clinical science.
