To facilitate the career development of National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK)-supported investigators and help in their transition to independent research careers, the NIDDK is sponsoring a K Awardees' Workshop to be held November 20-21, 2025 in Rockville, Maryland. Participation in the workshop is by invitation only. Register before November 17th, 2025. Meeting Objectives: The purpose of the workshop is to offer NIDDK career development awardees an in-depth view of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and NIDDK. The workshop will provide an opportunity to become familiar with the roles of various NIH staff, the types of grant support and resources available, and navigating the NIH grant process. In addition, investigators from the NIDDK research community will share strategies and career advice for achieving success as a research or physician scientist. The workshop format will encourage networking among participants, and NIDDK program staff will be available for discussion of individual research projects and grant applications.

The Uromicrobiota Research Interest Group (U-RIG) includes CAIRIBU and non-CAIRIBU investigators interested in the uromicrobiota. Investigators are clinicians and scientists from a variety of fields including urology, urogynecology, microbiology, microbial ecology, virology, bioinformatics, and computer and data science. The CAIRIBU U-RIG Research Hour aims to facilitate knowledge exchange and spur collaborations in the urobiome and adjacent fields.

The CAIRIBU Interactions Core is working with various CAIRIBU Community leaders to develop research interest groups around specific topics in urology research. The Uro-Aging Research Interest Group (UroAging RIG) will connect uro-aging interested CAIRIBU and non-CAIRIBU investigators from a variety of fields such as urology, urogynecology, geroscience, neurology, neuro-urology, urobiome, nutrition, toxicology, and bioinformatics. As a way to kick-start this group, we will schedule monthly knowledge exchanges as a way to get to know each other, discuss recent research, develop collaborations, and strategize on ways to advance uro-aging research. We meet virtually every fourth Monday. ALL are welcome.

CAIRIBU Annual Meeting, Dec 2025

The annual CAIRIBU meeting brings together investigators and trainees engaged in urogenital research from across the country. At the core of the CAIRIBU Community are the NIDDK-funded Centers and Programs - the Urology O'Brien Centers, P20 Urology Centers, and K12 Career Development Programs. ALL collaborative-minded urology investigators and trainees are welcome to participate. The 8th annual CAIRIBU meeting will be in Madison, WI on the shores of Lake Mendota at the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. The meeting begins on Wednesday morning at the historic Memorial Union with a trainee-centered "pre-meeting." The meeting officially commences at around 12:00 noon on Wednesday and concludes at around 1:00 pm on Friday.
