Postdoctoral Fellow in Urothelial and Cancer Biology at Columbia University in Dr. Cathy Mendelsohn’s lab, in the Departments of Urology, and Genetics and Development. Seeking a person to work on a new mouse model of bladder cancer. The research involves multiomics and whole exome sequencing of tumors from mice as well as tissue analysis and some experience using computational skills.
Postdoctoral Fellow in Urothelial and Cancer Biology
The laboratory of Dr. Cathy Mendelsohn in the Departments of Urology, and Genetics and Development at Columbia University is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow. The successful candidate will join a dynamic research group to investigate bladder biology and cancer using a novel mouse model.
Project focus
The project aims to study the development and progression of bladder cancer by:
- Characterizing a new mouse model of non-muscle invasive urothelial cancer.
- Performing multiomics analysis and whole exome sequencing on tumors derived from the model.
- Integrating genomic and molecular findings with detailed tissue analysis.
- Applying computational skills for the analysis of large-scale genomic datasets.
Research environment
The Mendelsohn lab is part of the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Columbia Stem Cell Initiative, offering a highly collaborative and stimulating scientific environment. The lab specializes in mouse genetics, urothelial biology, and multi-disciplinary approaches to study development, homeostasis, and disease.
Candidate qualifications
- Ph.D. in Cancer Biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
- A strong background in mouse genetics and handling mouse models.
- Prior experience with multiomics data and next-generation sequencing techniques is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in computational analysis, including bioinformatics or scripting, is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
To apply
Interested applicants should submit the following materials to Dr. Cathy Mendelsohn via email:
- A cover letter outlining research interests and relevant experience.
- Curriculum Vitae (CV).
- Contact information for three professional references.
