AUA Bridge Award Funding for Urology Research
The American Urological Association (AUA) has created a new funding mechanism aimed at supporting experienced investigators with current research projects that are facing financial hardship. Recognizing that critical financial shortages, particularly when unexpected, have great impact on research progress, this award will support investigators to keep their research progress moving forward. For calendar year 2026, 2 awards up to $60,000 each will support salaries, materials, supplies, and other research-related expenses to cover costs. This is not a mentored award. Applicants must be independent investigators, and this includes those whose research is within a larger laboratory. Applicants need not be AUA members at the time of application but must become AUA members if awarded. Ideal candidates are scientists or clinicians who are (1) navigating federal funding delays, (2) needing to resubmit to non-funding agencies for continuation, or (3) prior AUA or career development awardees who are ready to become or who are already independent investigators. Applications for ALL types of urology research are encouraged. This includes basic science research as well as clinical, translational, population health, and health services research. Applications are reserved for those that support research already funded but is currently, or will be by June 30, 2026, interrupted or ended prematurely. Applications that demonstrate excellent research progress to-date, detrimental impact on the field if progress cannot continue, and potential to make big impacts will be prioritized.
