Help Protect Federal Research Funding for Urologic Diseases

Congress is currently debating the federal research budget—and funding for biomedical research, including urologic science, is at risk. While this action specifically supports kidney and bladder cancer research, the broader message is clear: all federal funding for urologic conditions must be protected. As a community of researchers, we have the credibility and responsibility to speak up. Even a few words from someone in science can make a real difference—Congressional offices track not just how many people reach out, but who they are.

Dr. Kristina Penniston and the CAIRIBU Interactions Core encourage you to take just a few minutes to send two letters to Congress using the links below—one for kidney cancer and one for bladder cancer.

➡️ [Submit letter on kidney cancer research]
➡️ [Submit letter on bladder cancer research]

Each link provides a pre-filled message, but the most impactful letters include a personal comment. Whether you’re a trainee, a lab PI, a clinician-scientist, or a research staff member—tell Congress why this funding matters to you and your work.

Here are a few examples you can adapt or build on:

“As a urologic disease researcher funded by NIH, I see firsthand the value of federal investment in science.”
“Without NIH support, our lab’s work to improve patient care for [condition] would not be possible.”
“As a graduate student working in bladder cancer research, I urge Congress to protect future discovery.”

Let’s raise our collective voice to defend continued investment in science and in the lives of patients we serve.

Thank you from The CAIRIBU Interactions Core for standing with the research community.
