New UMich UroEPI Scholar

Catherine Nam, MD was recently appointed as a K12 Scholar in the CAIRIBU Urological Epidemiology K12 Career Development Program (UroEPI) at the University of Michigan. The University of Michigan’s UroEPI program is led by co-directors J. Quentin Clemens, MD, FACS, MSCI and Aruna Sarma, PhD, MHA. The program involves 2-years of post-residency or postdoctoral training for clinicians/epidemiologists interested in non-malignant urology. Supported by the NIDDK, the University of Michigan KUroEpi Program prepares participants for independent research careers.

Dr. Nam is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Urology at University of Michigan. She graduated from Emory School of Medicine and completed a urology residency at University of Michigan. She subsequently completed an andrology fellowship at Northwestern University. Her primary research interest is to better understand factors contributing to the worsening urologic workforce shortage and improve access to care for men with infertility and erectile dysfunction. Dr. Nam’s research aims to assess the current urologic workforce landscape, characterize issues with recruitment and retention, and identify areas of advocacy for health policy change on institutional, state, and federal levels. She is also pursuing a Master’s Degree in Health and Health Care Research at University of Michigan.
