Uromicrobiota Research Interest Group (U-RIG)
The Uromicrobiota Research Interest Group includes CAIRIBU and non-CAIRIBU investigators interested in the uromicrobiota. Investigators are clinicians and scientists from a variety of fields including urology, urogynecology, microbiology, microbial ecology, virology, bioinformatics, and computer and data science.
Machine Learning Research Interest Group (ML-RIG)
This informal machine learning research interest group began with Giulia Lane, MD, MS (University of Michigan) and Jim Hokanson, PhD (Medical College of Wisconsin) as well as David Sheyn, MD (Case Western University), Whitney Hendrickson-Cahill, MD (University of Utah), and several urogyn and urology fellows. The ultimate goal of this group is to develop and validate a machine learning model that predicts treatment failure and success in patients with various urologic conditions, starting with women who have OAB.
Stone Research Interest Group (Stone-RIG)
CAIRIBU-affiliated investigators study epidemiology and etiology of stone formation, cellular and metabolic pathophysiology, genetic contributors, environmental and nutrition-related contributors, and stone prevention. Surgical stone removal is also a topic of rigorous research as new endoscopic technology and laser fibers expand urologists' repertoire of surgical approaches and increase their ability to customize approaches to stone composition, locality, and patient preferences.
