Research Assistant – Popovics Lab
Overview
The Popovics Lab at Old Dominion University seeks a full-time research assistant. The laboratory conducts basic and translational research focused on benign prostate disease. This position is a great fit for someone interested in translational biomedical research and hands-on laboratory work using mouse models, human tissue specimens, urinary function testing, genotyping, histology, imaging, and molecular biology approaches. Job Responsibilities
- Mouse breeding, genotyping, urinary function testing
- Processing human specimens
- Documentation, compliance, maintaining databases
- Laboratory management – supplies, maintain instruments
- Support of other projects as needed: imaging, histology, making buffers etc.

Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in biological science or related field.
- Experience: Basic, hands on laboratory experience
- Skills: Prior experience with mouse handling and experimental procedures is highly preferred. Prior experience at least in some of the following techniques is required:
- tissue culture
- western blotting
- PCR
- immunohistochemistry
- imaging
- immunoassays
