APHL and CDC Public Health Laboratory Fellowships

The Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) seek degreed applicants (bachelor’s, master’s or doctorate) who are interested in starting or furthering a career in laboratory science while working collaboratively with industry leaders and developing professional networks. Fellowships support a wide spectrum of program areas in local, state and territorial government laboratories focused on protecting the public’s health, including laboratories performing human, environmental, animal and food testing to monitor for and detect health threats.

Eligibility: US citizen or permanent resident with a bachelor’s, master’s or doctorate degree from an accredited institution

Areas of interest: Bioinformatics and Molecular Epidemiology*, Biosecurity and Biosafety, Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR), Environmental Health, Food Safety, Infectious Diseases, Informatics, Newborn Screening, Quality Management, Laboratory Operations & Support S ervices, Radiochemistry

Program Details: Flexible start and end dates; program requires approx 40 hours a week for 1-2y

Application materials: Undergraduate and/or graduate transcripts, 1-3 letters of recommendation, resume/CV, completed interest and experience survey, written narrative to application screening questions

*must have master’s degree or higher for bioinformatics-focused fellowship
